Odds

Spent the morning at Surrey’s Performing Arts Library on the Denbies Wine Estate in Dorking. Odd place for a library, but well worth the visit if you’re in any way a performing arts sort of person.

Fellow writer Ian and I had great fun squashing little old ladies in the shifting shelves of play scripts.

I came away with my allotment of nine books on an extended six week loan; a total of 21 one plays from the likes of, among others, Patrick Marber, Jonathan Harvey, Willy Russell, and Peter Gill. I’ve already started Patrick’s first play, Dealer’s Choice first produced at the National in February 1995, and have a lot of reading to do over the next few weeks.

Even found a collection of plays by that american playwright with my name. Quite odd seeing your name on the front cover of a book of plays when you’re also a playwright.
