Paul’s Tweets for Week Ending 2009-07-12
- At the Ricoh in Coventry, watching them set up for the Oasis gig tomorrow. #fb #
- I'm managing one of the corporate hospitality areas overlooking the stage. Set up for 250 covers today, and now wondering what to do. #
- I'm staying in one of the corporate boxes that double as hotel rooms. Very nice too. Don't think I'll be getting much sleep tonight though. #
- They'll be setting up all through the night. Times like this I really wish I had an iPhone. Could have posted some great photos. #
- Was here a couple of weeks ago doing the Take That concerts. #
- A bit weird watching them build these concert stage set up things. Loads and loads of big men in shorts and fluorescent tabbards… #
- … but not a lot appears to be happening. #
- I'm sure it is. A bit like waiting for the kettle to boil I suppose. #
- It's stopped chucking it down so I'm off to tescos for a walk. Will see if it looks any different here when I get back! #
- Back. There now testing the huge screens. The left screen has 'left' written on it. No prizes for guessing what's on the other one! #
- Was told in the briefing this morning that Oasis fans are completely different from Take That fans – No shit Sherlock! #
- Apparently Oasis fans drink alot. Loads of discussion about managing the long beer queues. Glad I'm not gunna be any where near them! #
- OK for those that need to know re support acts for Oasis at Coventry Tues 7th July (@DigitalDiablo) … #
- Gates open 3.30pm #
- 3 Piece – 5.00 to 5.30pm #
- Twisted Wheel – 5.45 to 6.25pm #
- The Enemy – 6.45 to 7.45pm #
- Oasis – 8.15 to 10.10pm #
- Curfew – 10.30pm #
- lol, 3 Piece, might even be Free Peace! #
- ooooohhh flashy lights time! Just testing the blue ones! Shows up the rain though. A different colour please? Blue's getting boring now! #
- All quiet on the westren front. Must have gone for a tea break. Gunna have a wander on the pitch, since there's no one there… #
- 18,000 on that pitch tomorrow! #
- Oasis set up on hold for a bit. Watching Torchwood! #
- we are coming – back! great stuff! #
- well i've had my torchwood fix, shame i'll miss the rest of them this week. have to catch up on iPlayer at the weekend. #
- Sat in the press box now. Not every day you get to watch them set up an Oasis concert. Chocolate muffin and peppermint tea to hand… #
- Dark now, so the lights look really effective. White, if you were wondering. Testing them with the smoke machines. #
- Round abouts where the elephant appeared during Take That, there is now a fuckin great sturcture the size over two double decker buses…. #
- One on top of the other. Can make out all the computer screens, so obviously the control desk. Pity anyone at the back of the stadium… #
- Sort of blocks the view of the stage somewhat! #
- Assuming, that is, you can see over the beer tent! #
- Loving the gobo's! #
- Lol, Sat up in bed with a full view of the Oasis stage watching them practice the lighting routines! #fb #
- Okay, so I'm now getting a little pissed with the blue ones. Very pretty yes, but please can we have a different colour! #
- Gunna be a bit boring with just blue and white lights! #
- Got the screens back on now. One huge left, one huge right, and five smaller ones across the back of the stage. #
- woooooooooooooooooooooooooooow! #
- Wondering if now would be a good time to streak across the pitch, lol. #
- Morning All. They've started the sound checks here at the Ricoh. The bass goes right through you! And the sun's out too. Yay! #
- One of the lighting bars across the stage is down, so I guess they're replacing one of them. Sure they must have a few spares, lol. #
- Great light show last night. Fell asleep about 1am and it was still going on! Visual screen stuff good too. #
- Food service for me will pretty basic today. 250 for a 2 course. Roast Chicken for main and Summer Fruit Pavlova for dessert. 25 staff. #
- Intend to watch as much of Oasis as I can tonight. I'm in the EON lounge on the third floor overlooking the length of the pitch. Great view! #
- And getting paid too! Nice one! #
- Lots of activity on the stage now. Sound checks for the drums and keyboards atm. And still fart-arsing about with the stage lighting rigs. #
- Funny how light travels faster than sound. I can see the drummer bang with his stick, then hear it through the massive sound system after. #
- Liam is doing his sound check! #
- "yeah-seven-pounds-fifty-two-cars-notes-brussels-yeah" #
- Right, gotta go. Time for my hospitality briefing! Gunna be a great show! #
