Profile
Paul Foster, writing under the semi-pseudonym of PAFoster, studied theatre at both school and college, and was soon writing and directing his own work.
In Boston, MA, in 1989 at just 21, Paul wrote, produced and directed what was reported to be America’s first pantomime, ‘Rick Whittington and his Cat’.
Upon his return, Paul took up a career in marketing culminating in running his own consultancy practice, but after 15 years decided enough was enough and took the decision to give up work completely and concentrate on his first love of theatre.
After the success of writing and directing a one act play, The Man in the Middle of the Road which won him the Adjudicator’s Award in the 2006 Spelthorne and Runnymede Drama Fesitival, Paul wrote, produced and directed a new fairy tale in pantomime, The Princess and The Pigs, which has subsequently been licenced and performed by other amatuer dramatics groups across the country.
Paul’s short play about a student in isolation for bullying, Room 20, and his contemporary monologue work, Spaceboy, are both currently in production.
Paul recently finnished his two year stint as part of the prestigious ‘Nuffield Theatre Writers Group’, mentored by freelance director John Burgess (National Theatre, Head of New Writing, 1989-94) and is currently working on his full length graduation piece.
Paul lives near Woking in Surrey with his partner Richard.
